Open a new folder on your C drive called Mirc or some name you can easily find
do NOT extract this file in ie: my documents - the files will then be all over. let it have its OWN folder
Click on the link, choose 'Run this program from its current location' and click the OK button. Wait for the program to download and then continue with the next step.
d/l the self extracting file and keep it as a back up for re-install at a later stage if needed

Click the Yes button to agree to the license agreement
|
|

These settings should all be correct for your first installation of mIRC. Only change them if you know what you are doing.
Click the Install button to continue
|
|
|
The necessary mIRC files are being installed onto your PC.
This screens shows you the progress of the file copy

Congratulations! MIRC is now installed on your computer. In order to continue with the next step, you need to tick the 'launch mIRC' box and click the finish button
|
|

You will get a screen with Khaleds face on it -
aswell as how to register
speak to PETS on line to gt help in this regard

The first time you start mIRC, you will see the About splash screen. Click the tickbox in the bottom left to stop this from appearing again., then close the window (Click the X in the top right)

Enter your name and email address (you do not need to supply your real details)
Enter your Nick in the Nickname text field and an alternative nick in the Alternative text field.
Once you have filled in all the necessary information as shown then do the next steps before connecting !

Click on the servers - as shown on the left side
you will get a new tab opening - with some info in the centre -
which will be incorrect -
and the following steps will correct this

CLICK ON ADD
another small tab will open - and fill in the following details !!

Fill in the information as the pic shows :
now what you have to do here is the following :
where it says irc server .. choose the following !! to fill in there
Servers: SA
/server za.atrum.org
Servers: outside SA
/server irc.atrum.org
So depending from what area you are - you need to fill that in here :)
CLICK ADD ....... then OK
U DO NOT NEED TO FILL IN PASSWORD

Once you have clicked OK - you will go back to this Tab
then click on
CONNECT TO SERVER
This will take you directly to ATRUM via the server you filled in on the previous tab
|

having clicked OK -
you can now safely click CONNECT SERVER
THIS WILL CONNECT YOU DIRECTLY TO THE SERVER
Then once connected - type /join #Blackforest
|
|
|
DO THE FOLLOWING WHEN YOU FEEL YOU UP TO IT !!

EXTRA INFO for those who would like to do this :

Click on OPTIONS and then PERFORM
|
|
|
Tick Enable perform on Connect
Also fill in under Perform Commands
/msg nickserv identify YOUR PSWD
now remember - this will auto identify you to the server ONLY - on joining the server
also be aware that on the network Atrum
you can do the following
/msg nickserv you can type /ns
both will work
CLICK OK TO SAVE YOUR CHANGES !!!!

Check top of screen 5th icon from left
click on that will be your
ALIASES TAB
Now place in there your identify command
please be aware that the spacing is important !!!
/F7 /say nickserv identify Donkey remember this command is case sensitive .. so no mistakes !
You can choose any number on your KeyBoard from F1 to F12 if its not used for anything else !!
AGAIN CLICK OK FOR SAVING - placing this command on aliases - is in particular handy when you have changed nick names - then click F7 to identify NOT to become a guest !!!
